Step 1: Download the BIOS Pack

  • Download the BIOS Pack: Download the pack from above.

Step 2: Extract the BIOS Files

  • Extract the Files: Use a file extraction tool like WinRAR, 7-Zip, or similar software to extract the contents of the downloaded archive. You should end up with a collection of BIOS files in various formats (.bin, .rom, etc.).

Step 3: Locate the RetroArch System Folder

  • Find the System Folder: RetroArch uses a designated folder called “system” to store BIOS files. The location of this folder varies depending on the platform:
    • Windows: The system folder is usually located at C:\Users\[Your Username]\AppData\Roaming\RetroArch\system or within the RetroArch installation directory.
    • macOS/Linux: The system folder is typically located at ~/.config/retroarch/system.
    • Android: On Android devices, the system folder is usually located in the RetroArch directory on the internal storage or SD card.

Step 4: Place the BIOS Files in the System Folder

  • Copy the BIOS Files: Move or copy the extracted BIOS files into the “system” folder. Ensure that the files are placed directly in the folder and not in any subfolders unless specified by the emulator core documentation.

Step 5: Configure RetroArch

  1. Launch RetroArch: Open RetroArch on your device.
  2. Access Settings: Navigate to the “Settings” menu and select “Directory.”
  3. Set System/BIOS Directory: Ensure that the “System/BIOS” directory is correctly set to the path where you placed the BIOS files.

  • Load a Core: Go to the “Load Core” menu and select the emulator core that requires the BIOS files.
  • Load Content: Navigate to the “Load Content” menu to select and launch a game. The core should now be able to use the BIOS files for proper emulation.
